A lot's been going on this month for us! Here's a glimpse into a little:
I (Sarah) spent several days in Kansas City this month visiting with the President of H4H and his wife, who are long time friends of ours. We had some great discussions and enjoyed working on ministry stuff in person rather than over the phone. While there I also spoke at several different gatherings, sharing where H4H is going and what our role will be. We also visited a store that sells fair trade and “fairly traded” items from missionaries and non-profits. It definitely made the wheels in the business side of my brain spin!! I also had the privilege of watching ladies sew dresses for the children in Kenya. It was a wonderful trip but the most rewarding part of it was spending some time with Bertha. She is Pastor Benard’s daughter, who I met ten years ago on my first trip to Kenya. Bertha is going to college in the U.S. and is studying psychology with hopes of returning to Kenya and being a counselor at one of the orphan schools.

God has been bringing different people into our lives who play some role in orphan care or Kenya. We recently met a gentleman who works with World Vision in Kenya as well as a lady from Virginia who does fundraising for World Vision. Their expertise into the type of work we are doing was refreshing! We also met some young people who travel to Zimbabwe to plant and train on nutritional gardens in the public school system. They inspired us to look past the struggles of drought and seek different ways to approach agriculture.
Today, we are driving to Nashville, Tennessee to attend an orphan conference with the Christian Alliance for Orphans. We are praying God will give us clear direction, more understanding into different cultures and global orphan care, and practical ways to help the pastors we partner with succeed at bringing hope to these children.
Please pray for us this week as we are away. Pray that we will listen well, communicate effectively, seek the Lord and obey what He tells us. Pray that our girls who stayed behind have some much-needed play time with their Nana and Papa. Pray that our hearts will be aligned with the Lord’s so we can serve Him as He calls.
