Now that we have been home for three weeks we feel like we are emerging from the fog. If you are one of the people who asked how our trip was and received a glazed-over wide-eyed response of "It was great", please know we can explain more now!! It takes a while for the jet lag to wear off and routines to return to normal. Once that all falls back into place the emotional processing begins.
We are excited to be on this journey and see how the Lord is guiding us in every step. We are in this for the long haul and LOVED seeing how God has and is growing this ministry. He is blessing our relationships here in the U.S. and in Kenya, bringing more advocates and supporters for Hungry4HIM, and taking us deeper in our walk with Him. He is taking the children we work with into a relationship with Himself through the work H4H is investing in. It was beautiful to hear the children share testimony of who Jesus is to them. My eyes filled with tears as I listened to them sing praises to Him, recite memory verses, and tell of the hope they have.
We are advocates on their behalf. We are sharing their stories near and far through blogging, visiting churches, coffee with friends and social media. That's the biggest part of what we do. If we believe every child matters then their stories are valuable and people need to hear them.
There are so many projects we want to help them accomplish, such as getting their agriculture back up and running. Due to drought they lost all of their crops and have not had the money to plant again now that the rains started coming. The water they drink is contaminated and we are working with a company that wants to install water filtration. Most people in the areas where we work are malnourished. Moringa Trees provide all the nutrients your body needs and grow well there so we are working to provide what's needed to plant these. They have wonderful teachers who need to be paid monthly so we are looking for more teacher sponsors.
The children's most basic needs are covered through Hungry4HIM's sponsorship program so we know if we can get sponsors for all of the children ALL of their basic needs will be covered: food, clothing, shoes, school supplies and more! Our prayer is that God will lead Justin and I to churches who have a heart for this ministry, individuals and groups who see the needs and want to do something small to help meet them.
Will you pray with us? The tasks are many and they seem huge but we are trusting the Lord to continue leading the way.
